Do you like working with your hands? Are you detail oriented? We are currently looking for Honing Specialists to perform final hand honing operations on the blades of our cutters. We offer a variety of different cutting edges on our precision cutters, and each cutter is hand finished to spec using specialized files. This operation is technical and requires concentration and attention to detail. There is a learning curve with this position. This individual will initially train with our first honing specialists, with the intention of progressing to our more precise second honing operation. Raises will be given as skill level and productivity increases.

Full-Time & Part-Time available

Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:00 pm (flexible scheduling once fully trained)

Starting $15/hour (raises available as skill level increases)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prior to honing, inspect goods for non-conformance and communicate any issues to Production Supervisor
  • Hone cutting edges of blades using files based on work order instructions
  • Test cut sample material with blades to ensure ideal cut is achieved
  • If necessary, polish blades using buffing wheel
  • Ensure all safety protocols followed at all times
  • Maintain clean and organized work area

Job Requirements:

  • No experience necessary, on-the-job training provided
  • This position requires sitting most of the day
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English
  • Must have wide range of dexterity and good hand eye coordination
  • Must have eye for detail

Do you like working with your hands? Do you like variety? We are currently looking to fill multiple general production positions for the following operations:

Buffing tools on a buffing wheel

Installing springs in tools with mechanical apparatus

Gauging handles of tools using a mechanical press

Riveting tools using an orbital riveter

Loading and unloading of mechanical lapping machine

Based on performance and willingness to learn new operations, individuals will have opportunities to advance within the department and move to other areas of production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work at assigned work station as determined by Production Supervisor
  • Process operations based on work order instructions
  • Inspect goods for non-conformance and communicate any issues to Production Supervisor
  • Ensure all safety protocols followed at all times
  • Maintain clean and organized work area

  • Must be able to read and communicate in English

Works in tandem with another operator, heating bars of steel in an oven and then using a mechanical press to forge and trim the initial pieces of our tools. In addition, this individual will work with metal shears to cut bars of steel down to size and also work with heat treat equipment after the pieces are forged.

Full-Time

Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:00 pm

Starting $15/hour (raises available as skill level increases)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Forge and trim high carbon, alloy steel to customer requirements
  • Shear bars of steel to length
  • Complete forklift training to assist with receiving and offloading of steel
  • Coordinate loading and unloading of the annealing oven
  • Maintain forging equipment

Job Requirements:

  • No experience necessary, on-the-job training provided
  • This job requires standing for most of the shift
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be dependable, as this job requires working in tandem with a partner to keep the forge shop running

Swanstrom hand tools are known in the industry for their comfortable ESD foam handles. This position oversees the process of applying plastisol handles on our tools.

Full-Time

Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:00 pm (flexible scheduling once fully trained)

Starting $15/hour (raises available as skill level increases)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dipping tools according to customer requirements, based on work order instructions
  • Preparing and loading tools onto racks for dipping
  • Manning an automated dipping machine
  • Moving racks from dipping machine to oven for curing
  • Loading, dipping, and curing on a continuous basis to keep the timed operations running smoothly
  • Inspecting handles for imperfections

Job Requirements:

  • No experience necessary, on-the-job training provided
  • Must be able to read work instructions
  • This job requires that you be on your feet your entire shift
  • Handle dipping requires lifting a rack of tools up to 20 lbs and moving it in and out of an oven at shoulder height
